The Export Promotion Bureau leads export support, backed by BIDA, sector associations and a national trade portal offering market intelligence and facilitation.

Overview

For a small exporter finding its feet, Bangladesh has a real support network worth using. The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), under the Ministry of Commerce, is the lead trade-promotion agency: it registers exporters, issues Certificates of Origin, runs the Trade Information Centre, organises trade fairs and buyer-seller meetings, administers cash-incentive recommendations and awards the National Export Trophy. EPB also runs a market-intelligence portal for exporters. Alongside it, the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) supports investment and one-stop services, and powerful sector bodies, above all BGMEA and BKMEA for garments, provide utilisation declarations, training and advocacy. The Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) offers trade research and capacity building. Practical first steps: register with EPB, get onto its market-intelligence portal, join your sector association, and use the Bangladesh Trade Portal as your single reference for procedures. These bodies are also your route to trade-fair participation and to raising problems with government.
