Trade promotion agencies and support
The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) is the lead body helping exporters find markets, meet standards and access trade fairs and training.
Overview
You do not have to figure out exporting alone: Ghana has institutions whose job is to help you sell abroad. The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), a body under the Ministry of Trade and Industry established by Act 396, is the national trade-support institution for non-traditional exports. GEPA registers exporters, runs export-readiness and capacity-building training, supplies market intelligence and buyer contacts, organises and subsidises participation in international trade fairs, and champions priority product sectors such as cashew, shea, garments, horticulture and processed foods. The Ministry of Trade and Industry sets overall trade policy and negotiates the agreements you export under, while the Ghana Free Zones Authority supports export-oriented manufacturing with incentives. The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry issues certificates of origin and connects members to trading partners. For an MSME the practical path is to register with GEPA early and use its sector desks and events as your route into new markets.
