Customs Formalities
Exports are cleared by lodging an electronic export declaration in FRCS Asycuda World, supported by the invoice, packing list and any permits.
Overview
Fiji runs a modern electronic customs system, Asycuda World, operated by the Fiji Revenue & Customs Service. For each shipment you or a licensed customs agent lodge an export declaration (often called a Single Administrative Document / SAD) that classifies the goods under the Harmonised System, states value and quantity, and attaches supporting documents. FRCS assesses the declaration, may select the consignment for documentary or physical inspection, and then grants release for loading at Suva or Lautoka ports or Nadi airport. Most low-risk exports move quickly, but goods that need a biosecurity, health or export permit will not be released until that clearance is uploaded. Small exporters commonly use a freight forwarder or customs broker to lodge declarations, which is the practical way to avoid classification and valuation errors.
